Get Some Maintenance Done During The “Gas Off Season”

If there’s such a thing as a gas “off season” then this is it. Warmer weather in spring and summer means you will use a lot less gas. Your room heaters won’t get as much use as the temperatures rise. The gas hot water system won’t need to do as much work as you take shorter and cooler showers, and use less hot water in the kitchen. Even your gas cooker will be underworked as you opt for cool and light salads, instead of hot and hearty roasts.

So while you’re using less gas, why don’t you pay more attention to your gas appliances? It’s the perfect time to get them serviced and have them fully operational and efficient for when you need them to work fulltime again. Besides, it’s probably been a very long time since you’ve had them checked. You’re not alone. Most people don’t worry about maintenance. They only seek our services once something breaks down and needs urgent repair. As experienced gas fitters in Auckland, that is something we’ve noticed over the years. Ongoing maintenance is a much better alternative, and certainly cheaper, so we encourage you to get us around to your place.

Your gas heater is probably one of the first things we should check out for you. Over time, and without regular maintenance, a gas heater’s parts can degrade and leaks can occur, emitting toxic carbon monoxide into your home. For the health and safety of your family, it really needs to be looked at as a priority.

Your gas cooker should be checked as well. As the years pass, it can become dirty and clocked and total gas combustion won’t occur as it should. Does the flame on your cooker look yellow/orange instead of a brilliant, vivid blue?  That’s a sign that the gas isn’t fully combusting and the appliance is using more gas than it needs to. Obviously this is a waste and adds up to higher gas bills.

Then there is your gas hot water system. By checking it now, we’ll minimise the chances of an ice-cold shower when winter returns!

When a gas appliance is properly maintained, it will operate to maximum efficiency and use less gas, saving you a lot of money in the long term. So now that we’re into the gas “off season”, give us a call and ask us to do some overdue maintenance of your gas appliances.
